Safe spaces for domestic abuse victims
Boots the Chemist in partnership with UK SAYS NO MORE is offering a safe space to anyone experiencing domestic abuse during the Covid19 lockdown. People can walk into any Boots store, go to the healthcare counter and ask to use their consultancy room. Once inside, all the specialist domestic abuse support information will be available to access, and any call made safely. The nearest Boots branches to Bradninch are Cullompton Medical Centre and Cullompton Station Road
The Bradninch Community Food Shed
Look out for the signs!
It’s free to take food from the Shed. Please do!! It is there to reduce food waste by distributing it to the community from supermarkets, producers and growers who would throw it away otherwise.
It’s also open for donations - there’s a fridge for perishables and shelves for dried goods. Only food in it’s original packaging, not home cooked or homemade please, as we need to be clear about use by and best before dates, as well as labelling for allergens.
If you have an allergy please make sure you read food labels - you take at your own risk, but we will attempt to keep nuts in one area.
Please read the instructions when taking food - they’re there to help you.
If you see someone else there, please do not go into the passageway but wait until they have left the Food Shed - this is to ensure you can keep your safe distance.
Please do not go to the Food Shed if you have any symptoms of COVID. Stay away until you feel well, or a week after a positive test result.
Only one household at a time in the corridor to the Food Shed please!

What if there is another Covid19 outbreak?
Devon County Council have developed new measures to contain and reduce cases of coronavirus in Devon, and safeguard the health of our residents.
It's called the Local Outbreak Management Plan and it details how we will work together to help reduce the risk of outbreaks in the county, and if they do occur, identify them quickly and provide a rapid response to prevent the virus spreading.
Designed to support the national NHS Test and Trace Service, it is the local blueprint for action and builds on the effort everyone has made so far to keep infection rates here so low, protect each other and support the most vulnerable in our communities.
DCC are also helping other councils with their localised planning for coronavirus outbreak control as one of 11 authorities chosen by the government to share good practice across the country.
DCC have published the plan on their website, and it will be updated as new national guidance is published or legislation changes. You can also download a copy.

Learn Devon provides adult and community learning courses on behalf of Devon County Council. Visit the site to find a range of helpful courses for the whole community during this time.
Contact our school nurses for support
During these unsettling times, young people may have health and wellbeing concerns. Although schools are only open for a few pupils, our local school nurses are here to support everyone through this time and offer a free and confidential text service called Devon Public Health Nursing ChatHealth.
If you have a young person aged 11-19 years old in your household then please let them know they can talk to a Devon school nurse in confidence about relationships, how they are feeling, bullying, self-harm, smoking or any other concerns by texting 07520631722.
They are available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and can offer support on a wide range of concerns.

Test facility for Mid Devon
If you are a key worker, or aged over 65, and are showing symptoms of COVID-19, you can now be tested for the virus at a temporary testing facility in Tiverton. Members of your household showing symptoms may also be tested. Click here to find out more.
Devon Covid19 Local Support Fund:
Emergency fund to support people experiencing financial hardship because of the Covid19 pandemic. One-off crisis payments available.
CHAT Food Bank, Tiverton: Available to people struggling to afford food, even if you’ve not used a food bank before. Ring on 01884 255 606 between 10am-12pm for a phone assessment – you will be treated with dignity.
People Matter Food Bank, Cullompton: Available for people who are experiencing hardship that makes it difficult to afford food. Referrals available through Citizens Advice Bureau, Cullompton Children’s Centre, Local Welfare assistance, GP surgeries etc. Email peoplematter@standrewscullompton.com for more info.

The Rural Devon Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice on all subjects to anyone who needs it. They also provide specific advice around applying for Universal Credit. Face-to-face advice is currently unavailable, but they can be contacted by phone or e-mail: contact details here.
Don’t forget, also, that Bradninch Together volunteers can offer help with practical tasks, as well as a “check in and chat” phone service for anyone who might be feeling a bit isolated. Contact your local co-ordinator to access either of these things (see leaflet put through your door or www.bradninchtogether.org.uk).

Visit England - Know before you go
Visit England has launched its ‘Know before you go’ campaign, to start to rebuild domestic tourism.
The campaign highlights what attractions and facilities are open, and it promotes ‘hidden gems’ rather than extremely popular destinations.
It encourages walking and cycling to destinations, as well as providing practical guidance on ‘how to respect, protect and enjoy England.’
